LNB Round 3: Indios beat Metros by three after a very close game

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game of round 3 in the LNB took place in San Francisco. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of Metros (1-6) to Indios (4-3) 84-81 on Saturday evening. Indios forced 25 Metros turnovers. It was a good game for Luismal Ferreiras (197-2003) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 26 rebounds. American Curtis Hollis (198-1998, college: Hutchinson) contributed with 16 points for the winners. American forward Emmitt Williams (198-1998, college: LSU) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds for Metros. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Indios are looking forward to face Leones (#3) in Santo Domingo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Metros will play on the road against Titanes (#6) in San Cristobal and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a road loss of Caneros (6-2) against Titanes (3-4) on Saturday night. Visiting Caneros were defeated by Titanes in San Cristobal 106-90. It was a great evening for American point guard Derek StHilaire (183-1998, college: New Orleans) who led his team to a victory scoring 30 points and 5 assists. Jassel Perez helped adding 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Titanes' coach Yoel Felix used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American power forward Jeff Allen (201-1987, college: Virginia Tech) with 27 points and 7 rebounds. Titanes will play against Soles (#5) in Santo Domingo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Caneros will play on the road against Soles in Santo Domingo and hope to get back on the winning track.
An interesting game for Reales (6-0) which hosted in La Vega Soles (4-4). Reales managed to get a 12-point victory 103-91. It was an exceptional evening for Raphiael Putney who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Anyeuri Castillo came up with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for Soles in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Reales will meet Leones (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Soles will play against Titanes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 3: Leones beat Marineros on the road 100-82. Metros lost to Titanes on its own court 107-124. Soles unfortunately lost to Caneros in La Romana 75-82.
The most impressive performance of 3rd round was 25 points and 7 assists by Tyree Crump of Caneros.




Marineros - Leones 82-100

No shocking result in a game when Leones (4-2) beat Marineros (0-7) in Puerto Plata 100-82 on Sunday. Leones looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Jaison Valdez (188-1995) who led the winners and scored 17 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Diego Colon (192-2001) accounted for 19 points for the winning side. Naturalized American point guard Manny Quezada (188-1985, college: USF) came up with 18 points and 6 assists and swingman Luis Feliz (190-2002) added 14 points and 5 assists respectively for Marineros in the defeat. Five Leones and four Marineros players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Leones will meet Indios (#4) in the next round. Marineros will play against Indios (#4) in San Francisco and hope to get finally their first victory.

The game between closely ranked teams ended with Metros' (1-6) home loss to Titanes (3-4) in Santiago 107-124 on Tuesday. Titanes shot 60.3 percent from the field and made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Titanes especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for swingman Jassel Perez (195-2001) who led the winners and scored 29 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. American point guard Derek StHilaire (183-1998, college: New Orleans) accounted for 24 points and 4 assists for the winning side. American guard Michael Qualls (197-1994, college: Arkansas) came up with 30 points and the other American import forward Emmitt Williams (198-1998, college: LSU) added 14 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Metros in the defeat. His fellow American import guard Tyree Crump (185-1997, college: Georgia, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 25 points and 7 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winning side.
